Wiyigisage Ukulong Ikihehe

In 1979, Emmanueal Mwanumdemu (Emmanuel Mdemu) was commissioned by Geoff Fox to translate his copy of Teach Yourself Kiswahili (1959 edition) into Teach Yourself Kihehe. It passed scrutiny with other highly educated Wahehe, who were asked to check his translation. It was also submitted to Alison Redmayne, known among the Wahehe as Mung'anzagala Gisakamutemi Msengidunda Semugongolwa after her adoption into the Hehe royal family.

The publication of Teach Yourself Kihehe is a non-profit labour of love. It is intended as a gift to the children of Uhehe; a tribute to the beautiful language of the Wahehe; and a token of gratitude by the editor for the warm friendships extended to her over the years in Tanzania.
